What is Serpentine Energy?
The serpent in tantric tradition represents Kundalini which is a Sanskrit word literally meaning “coiled serpent.”
Kundalini is a serpentine primal life force energy that remains dormant & tightly coiled at the base of the human spine, until it is awakened.
The theory is, there’s this energy that comes into the child in the mother womb and you can call this energy; Shakti or Prana. According to the Tibetan Buddhist this energy comes in on the 49th day. When the child is fully developed and formed with spinal cord, brain and frontal cortex that energy is not needed anymore for general survival. So it goes and rests at the bottom of the spine. In the Indian image it is a serpent coiled around a linga, a stone three and half times waiting to be awakened.
You find the serpent image throughout history in Egypt, in Sumeria way back to 2500 BC. You see the serpent everywhere in the staff of Hermes, in Hermeticism, in Kabbalah.
When this energy gets activated it flows within us resembling the wavy shape of a serpent: curving from the base of the spine, into the gut, into heart and then head. The energy starts to dynamically rise up and travel though many pathways of your body to elevate you on every level, breakthrough your blockages, and clear your obstacles with the ultimate goal to drive you to Oneness.
This energy is known by many names.
Sleeping Goddess, Serpent Power, Kundalini, Shakti, The Divine Feminine, Sacred Feminine, The Great Goddess, this energy is also linked to the energy of the ‘Dark Goddess’, or the divine cosmic energy that represents feminine energy in her primordial, raw, (often) terrifying, form—much like Mother Kali.
Keep in mind that Darkness here is a different form of sacred energy, it has nothing to do with negativity or evil.
She is the vessel from which the goddess awakens. She allows us to experience greater states of bliss and all sensual aspects of life This is an energy of transformative sexual awakening, spiritual enlightenment, and new states of consciousness.
The Serpent Metaphor is the awakening forces of the shedding of our skin to reveal our innermost self.
